Yesterday was rough. The adrenaline of starting a new school year wore off and the reality that I operate on less than six hours of sleep a day set in. I was physically tired. And that is when the enemy likes to whisper in my ear.
“If you had been a better parent then…”
“If you hadn’t said then..”
“If you had taken better care then…”
“If You had really heard from God then…”
The enemy likes to talk about our past. God talks about our future. He was relentless until finally I had to say aloud while driving in my car, “Melissa snap out of it. What is wrong with you. You know better.”
Have you ever been stuck in this thought pattern? So many regrets about the past until you can’t see your future? Well here is a truth for you:
YOUR PAST MISTAKES ARE NOT BIGGER THAN GOD’S PROMISES FOR YOU!
No matter what mistakes you have made, God can and will resurrect, redeem, and restore. So when the enemy reminds you of your past, remind him of your bright, promising future. Remind him that all God’s promises are yes and amen. Declare with confidence:
“God keeps every promise He has ever made to me. His love for me is constant and endless. The Lord will finish every good thing that He has begun in me!”
Do not allow the enemy to have the last word. Shut him up by speaking and declaring truth!
“You keep every promise you’ve ever made to me! Since your love for me is constant and endless, I ask you, Lord, to finish every good thing that you’ve begun in me!”
