Does sin separate us from God? Isaiah 59:2 says that it does. But if you read the entire chapter, you see God set a plan in place to redeem us, to remove the barrier, to bring us home forever. The plan was Jesus.
When we fall short, when we mess up, we are tempted to hide from God, to avoid him. The shame of our actions may overwhelm us and like Adam and Eve we run from God. But God is good. He is merciful. When we fall short, His grace abounds more and more.
So does our sin separate us from God? NO! Romans 8 says nothing can separate us from the love of God. And when we separate ourselves from God, He is quick to devise a plan to bring us back to Him.
So today, if you are running from God, if you are overcome by shame & guilt, know that God’s love and mercy are wooing you back to Him. Know He has not turned his face away from you. Know His arms are extended toward you. Know that it is no coincidence that you are reading this post at this time. God is wooing you home. You are forgiven.
But God does not just sweep life away; instead, he devises ways to bring us back when we have been separated from him. (2 Samuel 14:14b NLT)
