Have you ever had to walk through a hard season? The children of Israel walked through a difficult place. They had no water for their community. Their livestock was in danger and they feared for their lives. They complained to Moses. Moses sought God’s face. God told Moses to “speak to the rock”.
A few years ago, I was having an extremely difficult time at work. I was being lied on and lied to. Like the children of Israel, I complained. Why did you bring me to this place? God’s advice to me was similar to God’s advice to Moses: “Speak to your rock.”
When you are in a difficult season, speak to your rock. Prophesy to your rock. Start your day declaring good things over your rock. “This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad.” “The favor of the Lord surrounds me as a shield.” “Everything I put my hands to shall prosper and succeed.” Speak good things over your life. Speak to your rock.
Moses was angry with the people, so instead of speaking to the rock, he struck the rock. God attributed the act of striking the stone to a lack of faith.
We are sometimes tempted to strike our rock. We strike our rock by complaining about our rock or trying to deliver ourselves. When I was going through my rock, God said, “Don’t argue. Don’t defend yourself. I will avenge you.” Man, that was hard. But He did what He said and the water flowed once again.
When you speak to your rock, you can walk through your difficult season with peace. Others in your camp will see your peace and ultimately your God. Your rock speaking tactics will draw others to God. Speak to your rock today.
““Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink.””
