Perhaps it’s because everyone seems to be focusing on the virus, this passage was highlighted to me as I read my Bible this morning:
“Listen to my testimony: I cried to God in my distress and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears!”
Psalms 34:4 TPT
I never notice before that David said he was freed from “fear”, when he cried out to God.
David wrote this Psalm at a very tumultuous time in his life. A powerful king was trying to kill him…literally. This king posed a real and immediate danger. This was not the media exaggerating for ratings, this was not politicians trying to win votes. This King had thrown a spear at David. This king had killed priest simply because they unknowingly help David. David’s struggle was real. David was running for his life!
But while his threat level was at the top of the red zone, he cried out to God and was delivered not from his enemy but from his fear!
If fear is gripping your heart this morning, I suggest you do what David did, “Cry out to God.” Meditate on Psalms 34.
1. Sing a song of praise in the face of that which you fear.
2. Look upon Him. His goodness and His presence will radiate your face.
3. Be in awe of His goodness. Taste Him, discover how good He is.
4. Seek peace.
5. Know His eyes are upon you.
6. Know He hears and rescues you.
7. Know He heals the broken-hearted.
8. The Lord redeems the life of his servants.
Oh my friends, first allow God to deliver you from fear. Everything else will follow.
