It’s Time For a Name Change

Too often, when we look in the mirror we see our past staring back at us. Our failures, our disappointments, our deferred dreams and unanswered prayers. We begin our day in the red, trying to overcome yesterday.

Israel was a nation with a past. They had abandoned God and because of this they had experienced the ultimate failure, captivity. Their land forsaken and barren for 70 years. I’m sure they remembered the stories of their parents of Israel’s glory days but today they stood desolate, abandoned, alone.

Can you relate? Have past decisions brought you to your current state? Do feel alone, abandoned, forsaken, ashamed? Like Israel, God is calling us to look not at our past but at our glorious future in Him. He, through Jesus, has taken us out of the red and put us in the black! (And everyone knows, once you go black, you never go back.) He has changed your name to “The One in Whom God delights.” “The Bride of God.” “Holy.””Redeemed by God.” “The One no longer forsaken.” “Desirable.”

Look in the mirror and see who God calls you. Start your day with a fresh revelation of who you truly are in God! Go into your day confident in the Jesus in you.

“Never again will you be called “The Forsaken City” or “The Desolate Land.” Your new name will be “The City of God’s Delight” and “The Bride of God,” for the Lord delights in you and will claim you as his bride.

They will be called “The Holy People” and “The People Redeemed by the Lord.” And Jerusalem will be known as “The Desirable Place” and “The City No Longer Forsaken.””
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭62:4, 12‬ ‭NLT
