Sunday I was praying. I closed my eyes and saw a beautiful green pasture on a hill. I opened my eyes and it was gone. I closed my eyes again and saw it again. I didn’t think much of it until I read this:
“Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine. The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance!”
Psalms 16:5-6 NLT
The land (our area of influence) God has for each of us is a plush, green, fertile meadow on a hill. It is pleasant. Pre-Christians are attracted to our land. There is abundance for others to come and partake of the goodness of God. It’s positioned on a hill for all to see.
Perhaps you feel as if your land (area of influence) is a thorny, barren, brown lot in a valley. It is not. Begin to appreciate the land God has given you. Stop coveting your friend’s land and begin cultivating your own land.
Cultivate your land with thanksgiving. Fertilize your grass with the spoken word and the written word of God. Water your land by obeying His voice. Pull the weeds by declaring and believing truth. Edge your land by stepping out in faith and taking risks.
Behold the beautiful Promised Land God has given you. Don’t despise small beginnings. Care for it and He will extend your tent pegs. He will expand your territory.
