This morning, I’m half awake thinking about my day; thinking about my students. This year I have several kids with a myriad of psychological issues – deep issues. It’s enough to know that it was not random but perhaps God had a design plan in picking my roster. So my question to God is why? Why these children? Why me? God said, “I gave them to you because I knew you would:
1. Pray for them.
2. Love them where they were (no judgment)
3. Make them laugh.”
What if that is Ministry? What if you were put in that cashiers line that is moving slowly to pray, love, and laugh with the people around you or maybe even the slow moving cashier?
What if your loud obnoxious co-worker was hired so you could show him Jesus by praying for him, loving him, and laughing together?
Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying God gave these kids these issues. Absolutely not. This is the result of a real adversary. But what I am saying is that what we see as annoying just may be opportunities for ministry.
I am also not encouraging you to pray loudly and obnoxiously in the middle of Walmart. But I am encouraging you to pray silently in the spirit for people who are having a bad day, to show kindness, to make someone smile.
Ministry is not as complicated as we have made it.
It’s Friday. Look at the little hiccups you encounter today as an opportunity to show God’s love to someone. Join me and let’s go pray, love and laugh today!
“Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky”
Philippians 2:14-15 NIV
