Tired and Ticked Off

Tired and ticked off. Yes, that’s how I woke up feeling this morning.

It’s a work thing that I feel obligated to do tonight that is interfering with me preparing for my bible study tonight. So I am physically exhausted just thinking about another marathon day and I’m frustrated with the politics at work.

That is how I started my morning. Tired and ticked….Then I read The Word.

Abraham was asked to sacrifice his only son. The son of Promise. The son it took him 100 years to conceive. The son he loved. He was willing to do this because he truly believed that if he obeyed the voice of God, His Son would somehow be raised from dead. He trusted in God’s provision more than what seem possible in the natural.

The Holy Spirit is speaking to me this morning in my “ticked offness state.”

Holy Spirit: “Melissa, why are you ticked off? I will provide.”

Me: “I need time to prepare for my Bible Study.”

Holy Spirit: “If I can make the sun stand still for Joshua, surely we can write a bible study in an hour.”

Me: “But it’s not fair.”

Holy Spirit: “Neither is my favor.”

Me: “I’m tired.”

Holy Spirit: (Laughs) “Get up. Go to work. Like Abraham did what I asked with happy heart and an expectancy, you do the same. You are light in the darkness. Trust I will provide the energy you need to get through your day. Trust I will provide the insight needed to teach the Bible Study. I am still Jehovah Jireh. I still provide.”

Me: (sigh) “Okay. But you could let me win an argument every now and then.”

Holly Spirit: (laugh) “I’m helping you win at life.”

Are you ticked this morning? Disappointed? Discouraged? Tired? Do you feel your “to do” list is longer than your day? God is still the Lord who provides. He has given us every spiritual blessing. He will give us everything we need to thrive today. And then do the same thing tomorrow. He is the God who has placed a ram in the bushes. Lord, open our eyes to see your provision.

“Abraham called the name of that place The LORD Will Provide, as it is said to this day, “In the mount of the LORD it will be provided.””
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭22:14‬ ‭NASB‬‬
