“The wealthiest places in the world are not gold mines, oil fields, diamond mines or banks. The wealthiest place is the cemetery. There lies companies that were never started, masterpieces that were never painted… In the cemetery there is buried the greatest treasure of untapped potential. There is a treasure within you that must come out. Don’t go to the grave with your treasure still within YOU.”
Myles Munroe
Has God given you an idea for a book, a composition, or how to solve a problem? Inside of you, is there a song waiting to be composed, a book to be published, a masterpiece to be painted? God is creative and we were made in His image. He has put gifts and talents within us so that we, Christians, have the resources to change the world!
What is preventing you from going for it?
Is it fear – fear of failure? Growing up we use to sing a song, “There is no failure in God.” We don’t fail but we have opportunities to learn, to grow, to be refined. Is it fear of rejection? You have been accepted by the God of the universe. He will never reject you. So what does it matter what others think. You will never be 100% accepted by everyone all the time. There are going to be times when you are rejected. Rest in the assurance you are ALWAYS accepted by God.
Is it a lack of significance? When I sit down to write, I’m overwhelmed by a sense mediocrity. My thoughts are “this is not profound enough, anyone could do this, why would anyone pay to read this.” But I need to remember if it speaks to me, it will speak to someone else. Even if it’s just one person, that one person is important to God. So write what speaks to you, paint for your eyes, compose for your ears, dance for your pleasure, start the business you would want, solve the problem you would encounter.
Is it a lack of resources? My former pastor once said, “when God gives you vision he will also give you pro-vision.” When you embrace God’s idea, He overshadows you with ability, anointing, passion. He has unlimited resources and will provide whatever you need to do that what He has called you to do.
Spend some time as the year draws to an end asking God for ideas. Ask Him what has he called you to do? Make 2016 a year where you pursuit your dreams. Don’t allow the treasure within you to stay hidden another year. Go for it!
Because we know that this extraordinary day is just ahead, we pray for you all the time—pray that our God will make you fit for what he’s called you to be, pray that he’ll fill your good ideas and acts of faith with his own energy so that it all amounts to something. If your life honors the name of Jesus, he will honor you. Grace is behind and through all of this, our God giving himself freely, the Master, Jesus Christ, giving himself freely. (2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 MSG)
