The Mind of Christ

I have the mind of Christ!

That may seem an arrogant thought to some. Self-debasing to others. But for those of us who have surrendered to Christ, it is a truth. A truth with power.

This morning I am meditating on the implications of this truth. How does this affect my day to day life. Why is this important as I minister to others. Why did Paul say, “We have the mind of Christ?”

One translation says, “We have Christ’s perceptions.” We have the ability to see situations as Christ sees them. We can look at the most horrific of circumstances, yet see Christ at work. This allows us to impart hope and eradicate despair.

We can pray, “Lord, I have your perception. Let me see what you see in the middle of this bad situation. Let me impart hope.”

One translation says, “we are guided by His thoughts and purposes.” We have wisdom. When we are determining next steps, we can hear and discern God’s will in situations. We can trust that small voice leading us.

We can pray, “Lord I am guided by your thoughts and purposes. Make your way clear. Guide me.”

Paul said, “We can understand the things of the spirit.” We discern spirits. We see the motives of the heart. Not to judge or condemn but to speak life and set free. We are privy to these discernments in order to love like Christ.

We can pray, “Lord I have spiritual discernment. I see insights into souls so that I can love like you love. I can speak the right word to break chains of bondage, sickness, hopelessness, and rejection.

My brothers and sisters, we have the mind of Christ! We are carriers of Hope because we see God working in every situation. We have wisdom because we are guided by His thoughts and purposes. We are chain breakers because we have discernment in the spiritual realm.

As I lead, I lead with the assurance that I have the mind of Christ.
As I parent, I parent with the assurance that I have the mind of Christ.
As I minister, I minister with the assurance that I have the mind of Christ.

“For, “Who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.”
