Forgiveness is My Super Power

I wrote a couple of days ago we don’t have bad days, just bad moments. But I think it’s safe to say on this day in history, Jesus was having a bad day.

Betrayed by a friend.
Abandoned by his students.
Denied by his buddy.
Ridiculed. Beaten. Slapped.
Spit upon. Lied upon.
Sentenced to death.
Crucified.

But as He was dying, as He came to the end of this horrific day, as He looked upon the very people He had come to save, He committed one last divine act. In His weaken state he muttered, “Lord, forgive them for they know not what they do.” Despite His mistreatment, despite the ridicule, the scorn, Jesus forgave.

Jesus experienced the absolute worse day ever! But on His worse day when His friends abandoned him, He never abandoned us. He stayed true to Himself and His purpose. He never accused, cursed, or condemned His accusers. That is not why He came. He came to seek, save and set free. So as He is coming to the end of His bad day, He extended grace.

I take back what I said earlier. Jesus didn’t have a bad day. Bad things happened to him. But Jesus had a divine day because He didn’t allow those bad things to change Him or His purpose. Jesus remained, Savior of the world even as the world rejected Him.

That same power that lived within Jesus and allowed Him to forgive, also lives within us.
The same power to hold our tongue when falsely accused
The same power to love those who hurt us
The same power to forgive those who mistreated us
The same power to remain loyal when others abandon us
The same power to have a divine day when our circumstances are devilish
The same power is resident in all of us as Christians.

Let’s walk in our SuperPower of forgiveness.

“Then everyone deserted him and fled. Then some began to spit at him; they blindfolded him, struck him with their fists, and said, “Prophesy!” And the guards took him and beat him.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭14:50, 65‬ ‭NIV‬‬
