Anticipation

Are you longing to see a prayer answered? Have you been waiting for quite a while? And sometimes you may say to yourself, I can’t hope any longer. I give up. But before you know it, you are hoping once again, believing again, anticipating once again.

I can’t tell you how many times I have earnestly prayed, “Lord if this desire is not from you, then remove it.” Only to have the desire burn more deeply in my heart. But still no answer.

What do you do with those heart felt desires that you have spent what seems like an eternity waiting to come to pass? What do you do when you want to stop believing but have found yourself a prisoner of hope? What do you do you do when you hear the clock ticking loudly and the fat lady humming?

I believe this is a word from the Lord this morning because it is so opposite of me. But I believe the Lord is saying, “Rest!”. Rest in knowing it shall come to pass. It may not look like what you envisioned; it may not happen when you thought it would, but it shall surely come to pass. Release your anger at God. Ask Him to heal your disappointed heart and Rest.

Spend time in His presence. Rest in Him. Allow him to be the “many-breasted” one, satisfying all of your desires. Let His presence be enough. And when you feel yourself becoming anxious about the promise again, go back to His presence. Find rest in Him once again.

God is faithful and what He promised, He will bring to pass.

And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” (‭Luke‬ ‭18‬:‭7-8‬ NKJV)
