A Woman’s Place

Radical thought this morning:

When God fashioned woman, he called her a “help meet”. The word in Hebrew is Ezer and it means helper or succor. Now we have watered that word down but is is the same word used to describe God Himself.

This morning I was reading the New Testament where Jesus said, “I will send you a Comforter or Helper.” I looked up the word “Comforter” in the Greek and it means a “helper, succourer, aider, assistant.” The same word God use to describe women in the Old Testament.

Radical Thought: what if God’s original intent for man and woman was that they would operate as one as the Father and Holy Spirit are one. What if men were created with characteristics of the Father and women were created with characteristics of the Holy Spirit. What if man and woman were created to model the relationship between the Father and the Holy Spirit:

They are one.
They are both powerful.
They are equals.
They function differently but cohesively.

This is what marriage should look like. This is what the church should look like.

“But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor–Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.”
