How do we glorify God? The answer may surprise you.
Jesus said it glorifies the Father when we (His children) bear much fruit. Think about, when Adam and Eve were created in the garden. God’s first command to them was “subdue, reign, be fruitful and multiply”. It was His original intent.
So what does bearing fruit look like?
God wants us to bear fruit in our soul, hence the fruit of the Spirit. We glorify God when we demonstrate love, walk in joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
God wants us to bear fruit in the spirit. We glorify God when we heal the sick, walk in the prophetic, perform miracles, feed the hungry and do the work Jesus did.
God wants us to bear fruit in our minds. We glorify God when we believe His Word is true. We glorify God when we believe we are who He says we are.
So how do I bear fruit? It’s simple. Fruit comes when I abide in Him and allow His Word to abide in me.
Okay, Melissa, that’s just a Chriastianese. What exactly does that mean?
Abiding in Him – believing that He is with me regardless to how I feel. Not relying on goosebumps or a physical manifestation to determine He is with me. But just knowing. Then acting as if He is with me. Quieting myself to hear Him. Talking with Him. Allowing the Holy Spirit to lead me.
Abiding in the Word – Reading & Believing His Word. Allowing the Word (not our traditions, not our emotions) to be the final authority of what we think, feel, and do. Meditating on the Word throughout the day and allowing His Word to transform us.
So friends, here is your to do list for today:
Abide in Jesus.
Abide in the Word.
Bear fruit.
Glorify God.
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.”
John 15:7-8 NKJV
