Can I tell you a secret? Life is not fair. No one gets out of this world without engaging in a battle or two or a thousand. Jesus even said, “In this world, you will have trouble.” But He finished the statement by declaring, “Take Heart, I have overcome the world.”
So here are two things I know:
1. The battle is inevitable.
2. I win
So when the battle arises, I don’t question God’s love for me. I don’t question if His Word is true. I don’t question his faithfulness. I don’t question whether I am forgiven, righteous, or accepted. When the battle comes, I don’t lie down and die as if some strange thing is happening.
I go into the battle with confidence, knowing I have already won. That doesn’t mean that sometimes I don’t cry in the battle, because I do. That doesn’t mean there will not be days when I’m so tired, I feel like quitting. That doesn’t mean that some days speaking to the mountain seems futile. That doesn’t mean that some days I get knocked down and contemplate staying there.
What it means is that I persevere. I keep going. I have my mind and eyes fixed on the prize. I hear the cloud of witnesses cheering me on and I put one foot in front of the other and I keep going. I do not loose heart because Jesus overcame. I go and fight in this battle because Jesus promised I win.
“David said to Saul, “Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.””
