I came of age spiritually in the prosperity movement. I can quote all of the prosperity scriptures. Deuteronomy 28 was a particular favorite. But this morning, as I was reading it, I struggled with the verse: “You will have many children.”

I struggled because I was reminded of the many women I know struggling to conceive, to start a family. By posting that truth will it make them despair, wonder if they are cursed? If this is a promise to me, why can’t I take hold of it.

But our circumstances does not dictate truth. God’s word is truth. We cannot omit part of His Word because it is not currently aligning with our circumstances. I quoted these scriptures when I didn’t experience success, when according to my circumstances, I was the tail and the not the head, when I didn’t have plenty to eat and lacked a lot.

I did what Father Abraham did. I called those things that be not as though they were.

I want to stand this morning with anyone reading this post and your circumstances are opposite of the promises in Deuteronomy 28:1-13

I stand in agreement with you today that your businesses will be successful. You will have many children. Your livestock will produce. You will always have plenty to eat. You will be successful in your daily work. You will defeat your enemies and they will scatter in all directions. You will be the head and not the tail and everything you put your hands to shall prosper and succeed. Your blessing will be so large that you will not have room to contain it all. Open heavens are yours. God is sending rain at just the right moments. You will have plenty of money to lend to others. You won’t need to borrow. Amen (based on Deuteronomy 28:3-8, 12)

Begin to call those things that be not as if they are. Because of Jesus’ obedience these promises are yours!
