“Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.”
Psalm 24:3-4 NIV
As a New Testament Christian, your hands were cleaned on Calvary and your heart purified when you said, “I do” to Jesus.
You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. (II Corinthians 5:21).
You have been reconciled to Christ and are now holy and blameless in His sight (Colossians 1:22)
We have a High Priest, Jesus, who understands and empathizes with us. Therefore we can boldly, fearlessly, and without hesitation enter His throne room of grace. (Hebrews 4:16)
So who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? We can because of the atoning work of Christ! Therefore let us run into His presence. Let us sit in Daddy’s lap. Let Him love on us. Let Him whisper secrets in our ear. Let Him sing over us. As that old Gospel song eloquently put it, “Let’s go up to the mountaintop, we’ve in the valley too long.” For we were reborn not to just ascend to the mountaintop but to live on the mountaintop!
