I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. This is often quoted when when God calls someone to new exploits. It’s our mantra when we are about to go on the mission field, or start a business, or step into a new ministry. While that is all good, when Paul said, “I can do all things”, he was referring to being content in every situation. Paul’s declaration signified he had learned the secret to living well, “Complete trust in the Lord’s strength to strengthen him. Complete trust that no matter what state he finds himself, he has access to all the resources of heaven.”
What do you need strength for today? What is your declaration today?
I can forgive through Christ who gives me strength.
I can love the unlovable through Christ who gives me strength.
I can trust God through Christ who gives me strength.
I can receive God’s love through Christ who gives me strength.
I can find joy in difficult circumstances through Christ who gives me strength.
I can lay hands on the sick and see them recover through Christ who gives me strength.
I can be who God has called me to be through Christ who gives me strength.
Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:11-13 NASB)
