Our Bridegroom is Faithful

I remember the dress I was wearing the day James and I got engaged. I was so excited. I had a ring and a promise.

With that ring, James promised to be my lover, my protector, my provider. He promised to marry me. With that assurance, plans were made – Dresses purchased, vendors hired, invitations sent. Not once, did I ever doubt I would be Mrs. James Bolden. I had a promise and the one who had promised was faithful.

Friends, we have a promise from one far more faithful than my groom. We have a promise from one incapable of lying, unable to forsake, unwilling to disappoint. His promises come with a guarantee far superior to a ring. His guarantee came with Himself, in the form of a Holy Spirit.

And just like we prepared for our weddings with assurance, let us prepare for God’s promises with the same assurance, knowing He who promised is faithful. His promises are yes and we add the amen, giving glory to God.

Are you waiting for a fulfillment of a promise? I am. But the Holy Spirit is reminding me this morning to wait like I did when I was engaged to James. I waited with expectation. I waited with a giddy anticipation. I made plans for that day. I prepared. I trusted the wedding day would take place and it did.

Our Bridegroom is faithful to His Bride. His promises shall come to pass. His promises are yes and yes.

“For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:20‬ ‭NLT‬
