Jesus shared His authority with the disciples:
“Summoning his twelve disciples, he gave them authority over unclean spirits, to drive them out and to heal every disease and sickness.” Matthew 10:1 CSB
Then He commissioned them:
“As you go, proclaim, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you received, freely give.” Matthew 10:7-8 CSB
The disciples did what they were authorized and commissioned to do.
“The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”” Luke 10:17 CSB
The disciples were not gods. They were ordinary, flawed men, just like us, who dared to believe if Jesus said they could, then they could. Therefore let us not consider our ordinary-ness or our earthly flaws. But let us trust in the Jesus within us, the Holy Spirit who empowers us and the God who cannot lie. Allow that to embolden us to do what Jesus authorized and commissioned us to do – heal the sick, cleanse the leper (or today, th Covid-19 patient), and drive our demons.
My friends, ordinary is what God is looking for. Flawed is all He has. So go!
