Way before it was a Nike slogan, Paul encouraged his readers in Romans 12 to”Just Do It!”
Today, I think most church people feel as if their gift isn’t “significant” unless it is used and sanctioned by the church. So we wait for permission to use our gifts. We wait to be asked to serve on a team or lead a ministry.
But the gifts God has given you were not made to be confined to the four walls of the church. They were given to reach the Pre-Christian. You gifts were given as an effective way to preach the gospel to your friends, your family, your neighbors, and your co-workers. You God-given gifts were meant to change communities.
The only thing God requires of you is that you do it in love!
So if you were waiting for permission, know Paul gave you permission two thousand years ago. Therefore…
If God has given you the grace-gift of prophecy, just do it by activating your gift and using the proportion of faith you have to prophesy in love.
If your grace-gift is serving, just do it and thrive in serving others well in love.
If you have the grace-gift of teaching, then just do it by actively teaching and training others in love.
If you have the grace-gift of encouragement, then just do it by using your gift often to encourage others.
If you have the grace-gift of giving to meet the needs of others, then just do it and may you prosper in your generosity without any fanfare.
If you have the gift of leadership, be passionate about your leadership. Just do it and lead well with a motivation of love ve.
And if you have the gift of showing compassion, then flourish in your cheerful display of compassion.”
Romans 12:6-8 TPT
Brothers and sisters, just do it! Love. Serve. Teach. Encourage. Help. Give. Shepherd. The world is literally dying waiting for the children of God to walk in their gifts with power and with love. Just do it!
