In Weakness

“It’s my money and I want it now.” That commercial pretty much sums up our faith in America Christianity. We want quick breakthroughs, speedy solutions, and daily suddenlies. But a quick read of the Bible, both Old and New Testament, show us that is NOT God’s MO. God is in the journey. He is in the process.

“In this life we are going to have trouble,” promised Jesus. We will walk through difficult season, we will experience disappointment, storms will rise. “But take heart, I have overcome the world,” encouraged Jesus.

Look at it this way: “The one who overcame the world, grace is sufficient to help us journey through our season of difficulty. His power is expressed through our weakness. When we are in need, when we come to the end of us, when We have find no strength to endure, we find our strength, our power in Christ, the one who overcame the world and is now living in us.”

So we are not defeated by our troubles, hardships, prolonged seasons of storms. No, we are strengthened. We grow in our faith. We gain greater insight into the character of God. We are shaped into mighty weapons able to defeat the enemy in more efficient ways. Trouble don’t last always, but what we learn in the trouble is eternal.

Yes, it’s my breakthrough and I want it NOW! I know it’s coming. I know my suddenly is on the way. But while I’m waiting, my weakness is a portal to God’s power! While I’m waiting, I’m kicking the enemy’s butt with my abundant fruit of the Spirit. While I’m waiting, I’m praising God and declaring His faithfulness to anyone who would listen. I am learning to wait well.

My friends, God is in our journey! Delight in the journey.

“Three times I pleaded with the Lord to relieve me of this. But he answered me, “My grace is always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.” So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I’m weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me. So I’m not defeated by my weakness, but delighted! For when I feel my weakness and endure mistreatment—when I’m surrounded with troubles on every side and face persecution because of my love for Christ—I am made yet stronger. For my weakness becomes a portal to God’s power.”
