“God is good but 2020 sucks,” was my husband’s succinct assessment of this year.
The Message Bible describes 2020 as this:
“Friends, when life gets really difficult, don’t jump to the conclusion that God isn’t on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner.” 1 Peter 4:12-13 MSG
I love my husband but I think I’m going to go with the Message Translation on this topic.
2020 has had its challenges, yet God is still on the job. He is still saving, healing, rescuing, restoring, providing, loving, drawing people unto himself.
2020 has brought pain, disappointment, grief, but it has allowed us to find comfort in the arms of the Lord. The same Holy Spirit that sustained Christ on the cross is the same Holy Spirit available to us. We are in the very thick of the comforting given to Christ on the cross.
Yes, 2020 has sucked but let its suckiness spiritually refine you. Let it make you stronger, wiser, more Christ like.
2020 has sucked but hold on to Hope because Glory is just around the corner.
