Last year, around this time, I was in a funk. I was full of regrets and disappointments about 2017. The Holy Spirit sat me down and helped me develop an attitude of gratitude. Over the next few days, the Holy Spirit reminded me of all the God-things that happened and I wrote them down regardless if it were a major or minor event. I was surprised by the many blessings I had experienced in 2017. Our brains can be critical and see only our insufficiencies. But that exercise with the Holy Spirit helped me see God’s goodness and abundance in my life.
That exercise changed my attitude. I no longer concentrated on my disappointments and regrets. I was filled with and gratitude and awe of God’s faithfulness and goodness in my life.
I plan to make this a yearly holiday tradition. Will you join me? Sit down some time this week and ask the Holy Spirit to show you what He saw in you this past year. Let Him remind you of the many blessings you received in 2018. Let us enter 2019 full of hope! Full of gratitude! Full of expectation! Full of awe!
“Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
