Contend

Here is a dangerous prayer: “Contend, Lord, with those who contend with me. Fight against those who fight against me.”

That prayer is biblical. David prayed it. But we must remember, we do not fight against flesh and blood but against principalities and wickedness in high places. And you may find the very thing contending with you are your own strongholds and mindsets. You may find what is fighting against you are lies you have believed and embraced. Your enemy is possibly misplaced faith (faith in other people, faith in yourself). Your battle maybe unhealthy alliances. When God begins to contend with those things, it may seem as if He is contending with you. He s not; He is contending FOR you.

While a dangerous prayer, it is a necessary prayer. We must be willing to relinquish any thought, any alliance, any mindset that keeps us in bondage to fear, to mediocrity, to lack. The battle may be uncomfortable, it may be downright painful at times but the contending is for your own good, for your health, for your advancement.

So if you are like me and you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, pray this with me:

“Contend, Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me. Take up shield and armor; arise and come to my aid. Brandish spear and javelin against those who pursue me. Say to me, “I am your salvation.”” Psalm‬ ‭35:1-3‬ ‭NIV‬‬
