So Solomon finished building the Temple of the LORD, as well as the royal palace. He completed everything he had planned to do. (1 Kings 9:1 NLT)
When I first read this, I thought how cool would it be to have that said of me, “I completed all that I had planned to do.” But then I remembered, building the Temple was truly the pinnacle of Solomon’s success but after he was done, came his descent – marrying over 700 women and worshipping other gods.
Our Christian life is a journey, where we are constantly going from success to success, from glory to glory. I don’t want to ‘arrive’. I want to constantly be taking more ground for the Lord. I want my plans to be updated with every success. I want to be pushing back the darkness until Jesus returns or I’m called home. I don’t want an event, a ministry, or a book to be my goal. I want nothing less than to see every sickness and disease eradicated, every heart healed, and every tongue confess “Jesus is Lord.” I want to see heaven come to earth. Then will I have completed everything I had planned to do.
