“The Spirit of the Lord is upon you…”
Those are the words I heard as I lay in my bed, asking God to speak to me this morning.
I’m familiar with the reference but not sure why God is speaking this to me.
I just completed a women’s retreat and after most speaking engagements, I am now wrestling with feelings of inadequacy. Thoughts like, “why wasn’t anyone healed? I should have said this? I should have …”
So I don’t feel as if the Spirit of the Lord is upon me.
But once again the Lord said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon you.”
But this time he added. “It is not a feeling. It’s a Fact. It’s Truth. Your job is to do what I called you to do. My Spirit upon you does not ebb and flow like the ocean’s tide. It doesn’t come and go depending upon your prayer life. The Spirit of the Lord is upon you because you are mine.”
That is a truth all who are in the Body of Christ need to be reminded of. The Spirit of the Lord is upon us as we go to the grocery store, as we go to our jobs, as we parent, as we lead retreats.
It’s not goose bumps or physical manifestations .
It’s not measured by the number of people who are healed or the number of amens you receive.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon you.
We have been anointed to preach the Gospel, heal the broken-hearted, proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, set at liberty those who are oppressed and proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.
This is what I did this weekend. This is what God has anointed each of us to do daily.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon you my friends. Go out and walk in it.
““The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.””
