Yes, that bad thing happened. You were hurt. You were rejected. You were discriminated against. You were mistreated. Yes, it was unfair. Yes, it happened. It is your backstory.
But now you have a choice.
Do I allow my backstory to dictate my future story or do I accept Jesus’ redemption of my backstory? Will I allow Satan to keep me as a victim or will I share in Jesus’ victory.
Recently, I was on a Mission’s Trip in Mexico. The last day we went on an excursion to the Mayans and then to an area for swimming. Previously we had gone to the beach and I could enjoy the water but not partake. But this year the only option at this place was swimming.
My backstory triggered an anger within me. You see, many African Americans my age never learned to swim, especially in the south. We were not allowed into private swim clubs. So my backstory dictated my present story.
But God redeemed that moment. As I sat outside, a couple of other women came out. We ended up having a precious time ministering to and praying for one of the women.
Give your backstory to Jesus. He will in exchange give you hope. He will help you forgive so that you can be truly free. He will set you free of your backstory and show you the glorious future He has for you.
My new book #Redefined, is filled with powerful stories of women who overcame backstories of affairs, unwanted pregnancies, sickness, and rejection. Women, whose hearts were captivated by God and empowered to go from victim to victor.
Friends, what Jesus did for these women, He wants to do for you. Let Him. Let Him heal your heart. Let Him redeem the bad thing that happened. Let Him turn what the enemy meant for bad to good. Let Him captivate your heart!
I state in my book, #redefined, “Don’t allow your backstory to define your future story.”
Two thousand years ago, Paul put it this way:
“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV
Let God heal your backstory, my friend so you can embrace your glorious future story!
