Old Testament:
Solomon built a trillion dollar, extravagant, luxurious temple to house the presence of God. When the nation was in trouble, they were to turn toward the temple and pray. The Lord eyes were open and attentive toward the temple day and night.
““But will God really dwell on earth with humans? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!” 2 Chronicles 6:18 NIV
New Testament
God lives within each of us. We are the valuable, extravagant, luxurious temple of God. The Lord’s eyes are attentive towards his temple day and night.
“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?”
1 Corinthians 3:16 NIV
The fullness of God cannot be contained in a building, or a church, or a denomination. His fullness is expressed in each of us as a collective.
What if we appreciated the expression of God in each Christian? What if we appreciated the expression of God within us? What if we recognized our value as conduits of the presence of God? What if we went about our everyday life with the awareness that the spirit of the living God is alive and well within us? What if we lived as New Testament believers aware that the power to heal, comfort, exhort, teach, and prophesy is forever present within each of us.
We are the temple of God. Let us be who we are!
