Trust

“He took Jesus at His Word.” That phrase stood out to me this morning as I was reading.

This bible describes this man as a Royal Government official. He had clout, influence, wealth. I imagine he was self-reliant and powerful. But with all of his earthly authority and money, he could not heal his son. He humbled himself and this rich, influential, government official found himself at the mercy of a vagabond, carpenter’s son.

I can relate to this government official this morning. I’m a problem solver. I’m smart. (Ok, that’s code for I like to think I’m in control.) But in this season, my natural skills are insufficient. I can’t reason my way into a solution. I need divine intervention. I need the Supernatural, miracle working, door opening, against all odds power only Jesus can give. My only option, like this royal official, is to trust Jesus at His Word.

When I don’t understand. Trust Jesus at His Word.
When I can’t see tomorrow. Trust Jesus at His Word.
When I feel lost. Trust Jesus at His Word.
When I am betrayed. Trust Jesus at His Word.
When there is nowhere else to turn,
When the winds rage,
When I’m afraid,
When I am lonely,
The answer is always the same. Trust Jesus at His Word.

This royal official walked away with peace and assurance before he got the word his son was healed.

God is reminding me that I too need to walk in peace and assurance today, by simply taking Jesus at His Word.

“The royal official said, “Sir, come down before my child dies.” “Go,” Jesus replied, “your son will live.” The man took Jesus at his word and departed.”
