“If God loves me, why would He send me to hell?” Every Christian who has shared their faith with someone has probably been asked that question.
I guess Christianity has been presented as this elite club you must join. And to get in this club you must follow a list of do’s and dont’s, think the same way, vote the same way, and generally condemn anyone who worships differently, looks differently, thinks differently.
But that is not Christianity! That’s religion. Christianity invites ALL, religion forbids many. Christianity says believe, religion says do. Christianity extends grace, religion lists rules.
Christ did not leave heaven, come to earth, suffer the pain and humiliation of the cross, just to send people to hell. No, He came to rescue us FROM hell, He came to redeem us from ourselves, He came to set us free from addictions, sin, hopelessness, sickness, oppression.
Jesus is not sending you to hell, this I’m sure. He is not mad at you, regardless to what some of His children may have told you. He loves you. Today, He is extending His nail pierced hand to you, smiling and inviting you to come and follow Him. He is inviting you to a better life.
My friend, Jesus is not sending you to hell. He is standing in front of the gates of hell, arms extended, saying, “Don’t go in there. Choose me.” God loves you. No matter what you have done, His love for you is unfailing. He did NOT come to condemn you. He came to set you free.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
John 3:16-17 NKJV
