For the last two weeks, I have been traveling or preparing to travel. As a result, many things have been put on the back burner. But now that I’m back, all of those things are front and center and I am overwhelmed. My to-do list is quite frightening.
But as I lie awake at 4:00 in the morning, thinking about (okay, worrying about) all I need to do, I open my bible and the first thing I read is:
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 NLT
It’s like the Lord is gently saying, “Okay, Melissa. Give me your hand and your list. Together we will accomplish this. Together we will do more than you can ask, think, or imagine. You are not alone. I am right here, my daughter.”
Is your to-do list frightening? Are you worried about providing for your family this season, the health of your marriage, or has the doctor given you bad news? No matter what has your heart heavy this morning or your mind occupied, Give it to God in prayer. His hand is extended to you and together you can change your world.
So join me this morning. One by one cast your cares upon Him. One by one, give Him your to-do list. Allow His peace to reign in your hearts. Receive His wisdom. Be grateful for what He has done. Know, He is holding your hand and saying, “I am right here, my son, my daughter.”
