Are you crying out to God for help? For a job? On behalf of your child? For your marriage?
David began Psalm 5 with a lament, petitioning God to answer his cry. He ends with a declaration of faith: “Surely Lord you bless the righteous. You surround them with your favor as with a shield.”
Favor is shown delight, acceptance, good pleasure. So we can declare:
Because of Jesus’ atoning work on the cross, I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore the Lord blesses me (empowers me to succeed). God surrounds me in His acceptance, His delight, His good pleasure that protects me from the lasting effects of the enemy.
You may have awaken crying out to God, but conclude your prayer with a declaration of faith: God’s favor surrounds me like a protective shield.” So go out today in confidence knowing that God’s favor is surrounding you. Doors are opening for you. Good things are coming your way. Better jobs and promotions are yours. You have favor with your spouse and your children. Surely His favor is upon you!
