The Challenge – Week 10 Day 4

North Korea, terrorist attacks, Neo-Nazis, the economy, war in Afghanistan, turmoil over statues. These events, orchestrated by a very real devil, are vying for our attention. Our enemy desires to put us in a state of turmoil and confusion. We are tempted to fear. We are tempted to accuse others. We are tempted to move to Canada. (Okay that last one may just be me.) But what should be our response?

We must remember from where our help comes from. It’s not Washington DC, it’s from further North. It’s not from the White House, it’s throne was established before the beginning of time. It’s not from the president. Our help comes from the King of Kings, the Prince of Peace, the Lord of Lords.

With the news at my fingertips and Facebook rhetoric, I have noticed an anger developing in me. I have noticed a hopelessness and an inability to see people as God sees them. I have forgotten in whom I trust. I have taken my eyes off God and placed them on man. That ends today.

Today, I will place my eyes on the Almighty. My hope lies securely in the faithfulness and the love of my Abba Father. I choose today to ignore the turmoils of this world and to see others as God sees them, to love like He loves, to trust Him. For He is my rock, my salvation, my deliverer. He lifts my head, forgives me freely, and loves me unconditionally. I shall not fear war, an economic downfall, or discrimination. No matter what, I know He has my heart and He ain’t ever going to let me go.

“The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
