Everyday is Christmas
I remember when I was young. On Christmas morning, there was such anticipation to see what gifts awaited us? I was excited that my big family (at that time, I was the youngest of seven) would all get together and laugh. We were loud. My mom was the best cook, so our table always overflowed with delicious food.
I miss my big, loud, crazy family gatherings. I miss seeing Christmas through the eyes of a child.
My prayer this morning, some may call a fantasy, is to see everyday in 2020 like a child on Christmas morning. Pray with me.
“Father, in 2020, let me awaken each morning with anticipation of the many blessings you have in store for me as your child. Let me get excited to see your gift of healing when I or others around me are sick. Let me unwrap joy in disappointment. Let me feel your presence when I’m lonely. Let me remember daily that every good and perfect gift comes from you. Give me eyes to discern those perfect gifts even in the midst of chaos. Father, let me wake up each morning with excitement, knowing your mercies are afresh and blessings for me abound.
Father, in 2020 let me be surrounded with family and friends who have become family. Let my house be filled with laughter. Let me be a safe place for many who are hurting. Let people find refuge in these walls. Let them feel your presence as they enter not just my house but my sphere of influence. Let love, joy, laughter, peace, hope abound in my home and in my presence everyday.
Father, let 2020 be marked by generosity. Open my eyes to see the needs of others and let me be quick to give. Let me generously give of my time and my resources. Let me give away freely, what you given me – love, forgiveness, acceptance, friendship, provision.
Father, in 2020, may there be a perpetual feast in my home. Prepare a table in my home where everyone is welcomed. Let us feast on wisdom, power, love, safety, provision, protection. As people enter my home, let them taste and see just how good you are. Let us feast on the bread of life, be sustained by the fountain of life and drink from you wine vats.
In 2020, let us celebrate the birth of Jesus everyday. Amen.”
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”
