“Crucify Him,” the crowd yelled.
The crowd…where was the crowd that was fed with two loaves and five fish?
Where was the crowd that thronged Him everywhere He went?
Where was the crowd that saw blind eyes opened, the deaf hear, the dead raised, the leper cleansed?
Where was the crowd that heard the gospel preached with power and authority?
The crowd is a fickle entity. One minute it is yelling “Hosanna, glory in the highest,” the next “Crucify Him.”
This is why we can’t live our lives by the approval of the crowd. We must live our lives by the approval of the One.
I am not a fan of buffets. Buffets appeal to the taste of many and are, in my opinion, bland and tasteless. I don’t want to be a buffet Christian. I don’t want to live a life that is bland and tasteless. I want to live a life full of risks because that is where the miracles happen. I want to live my life such that I am an acquired taste. I want to live a life where I am not led by the crowd but by the Father’s voice.
Let us stop seeking the acceptance of a fickle crowd. Let us rest in knowing that we are perpetually accepted by a steadfast God. Allow that acceptance to propel us to go amongst the crowd and feed the hungry, heal the sick, and preach the gospel with power and authority.
“Again Pilate answered, “Then what shall I do with Him whom you call the King of the Jews?” They screamed back, “Crucify Him!””
