Did you know the opposite of love is not hate but fear? (Hate is the by-product of fear.) The Bible tells us, “Perfect love casts out fear.” So if I want to love people, I must begin by refusing fear.
Today, I have decided not to allow fear to govern my heart. I have decided I would rather risk being hurt by ‘one’ than not trusting the ‘all’. I have decided to err on the side of love rather than be a prisoner of fear.
We live in a fallen and dangerous world. How can one not give in to fear? Remember, perfect love casts out fear. I’m trusting in God’s perfect love for me. Like David, I will proclaim:
“It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.” Psalm 18:32
So standing on that promise, I refuse fear and embrace love. I am secure in Him.
