Have you ever really considered that God delights in you? Not just when you are out praying for the sick, preaching the gospel, or raising the dead. But He delights in you when you are washing the dishes, going to the grocery store, filing papers at work or sitting on the sofa watching TV.
He delights in the way you were created, for He created you. He delights in your beauty for you look like your Daddy. He delights in your personality, for you were created to uniquely represent Him. He delights in you. He is rejoicing over you, displaying joy over who you are. He is singing over you.
Meditate on that. The God of the universe, the God who is mighty to save, the God who spoke the world into existence, the almighty, all powerful, omnipotent God rejoices and sings over you, His son, His daughter.
And if God is rejoicing over me, perhaps I should rejoice over me. Perhaps I should appreciate the way I was created. I am after all His beautiful masterpiece created for good works. Perhaps, I should see myself as beautiful because I have my Daddy’s eyes, His smile, His hands and His feet. Maybe I should appreciate my personality because I am driven by His passions. I have the mind of Christ.
And maybe, just maybe, like my Daddy, I should rejoice and celebrate the uniqueness, the beauty of others. Maybe I should learn to celebrate with the person who looks differently, who votes differently, who worships differently than I do. Maybe I, like my Dad, should celebrate the intrinsic value of all people.
No matter what your day holds today, remember God is singing over you. He is smiling over you. He delights over you.
“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.””
Zephaniah 3:17 NIV
