I wonder how many times, God has called someone to a work, they step out in faith all excited, opposition arises and they retreat. There is a lie in the body of Christ that says if God called you to do something it will be all green lights and blue skies. We only have to read the life of Paul to see the fallacy in that statement.
Paul was called to preach the gospel to the Gentiles. Everywhere he went he was met with opposition. He was beaten, imprisoned, and shipwrecked but he never wavered on his calling. Not only that, when he faced trials, he produced fruit.
Falsely imprisoned – He led his captor and his family to Christ.
Beaten – he preached a sermon that brought many to Christ
Shipwrecked – he healed the chief leader’s father and eventually all the sick on the island.
Has God called you to do something and you are facing opposition? Take heart. What the devil meant to stop you, will only propel you quicker and faster into your destiny. What the enemy planned to destroy you, will only make you stronger in the Lord. What the enemy sent to test you and mess with you, is only giving you a testimony and a message. Don’t retreat! Don’t turn around! Persevere through the persecution. Set your face like flint! Run towards your promised land!
You know how badly we had been treated at Philippi just before we came to you and how much we suffered there. Yet our God gave us the courage to declare his Good News to you boldly, in spite of great opposition. (1 Thessalonians 2:2 NLT)
