Worship

I’ve done it again. I have overbooked my life.

Last night, I was sitting in the middle of the chaos preparing for my upcoming weekend event. My husband asked, “Why do you do this to yourself?”

It’s simple. This is what I was born to do. This is my worship.

We have relegated worship to a song. To thirty minutes on Sunday before a great sermon. To a dance with flags.

Unfortunately, we have given people the important position of leading us into worship, as if our worship is dependent upon someone else.

But if worship is simply adoring and honoring God with our gifts, our talents, and resources, then I worship when I

Teach calculus with honor,
Clean my house with a happy heart,
Respect and love those around me,
Give to those in need,
Sit still and hear his voice,
Smile at a weary cashier,
Go to work and provide for my family,
Pray for family and friends,
Use my spiritual gifts to build the body of Christ.

Let’s go out today and let our lives be a continuous worship service before God. Let us not wait for the perfect song to come on the radio or someone to lead us into worship. Let us get out of bed with an attitude of worship. Let us choose a heart that is thankful rather than heart ready to complain. Let us recognize the small mundane activities of our day are still an act of worship.

Let the words of one my favorite Gospel singers be our motto today:

“To worship Him I live. I live to worship Him.”

How will you worship today?
