I was driving to work and praying for a situation. “Lord, Open their eyes,” I prayed. And the Lord replied, “What about your eyes?”
Let’s be honest. When we pray, “Lord open their eyes so they can see truth.” Don’t we really mean, “Let them see OUR version of the truth”?
So the Lord instructed me to pray this dangerous prayer for myself:
“Lord, Open my eyes to see any lies I am believing about myself or others. Then reveal your truth.
Lord, show me any areas in my life where I am responding or reacting in fear. Then give me a greater revelation of your perfect love for me.”
This prayer can be extremely uncomfortable. It may cause us to rethink some lifelong beliefs. But I believe if we pray it with sincerity and humility, we will find freedom we didn’t even know we needed.
I believe if we pray this and quiet our hearts to truly hear, God will speak to us in His loving voice and bring correction.
I prayed this dangerous prayer and God began to reveal to me an area in my life I am supposed to walk in a leadership role but I have been shying away from because of past hurts.
Are you willing to take this journey with God? Are you willing to allow Him to #Redefine how you think about yourself? How you view others? Are you willing to allow God to speak louder than life long beliefs and misconceptions? If you are, pray this dangerous prayer with me, “Open my eyes to see truth in every area of my life.”
“I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.”
