God is love.
Therefore God is patient towards me. He is kind. He does not envy, is not proud. God will never dishonor me, is not self-seeking, not easily angered, keeps no record of my wrongs. God will never delight in evil but rejoices in truth. God always protects me, always trust me, always hopes in me, always perseveres for me. God will never fail me. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8a NIV)
Because this is how God loves me, I am free to love others like this. I don’t always hit the mark. But when I fail, there is no guilt or condemnation. I simply remind myself how much I am loved by God. His extravagant love empowers me to love better.
We love, because He first loved us. We love out of the overflow of His love. So if you are struggling to love someone (we all have been there), ask God to give you a greater revelation of His love for you. He loved you when you were unrepentant. He loved you before you knew His name. He loves you furiously, extravagantly, beautifully.
