Weary in Battle

“I’m tired of fighting,” I sighed.

The Holy Spirit responded, “Then stop.”

“But all of these not yets I feel I need to contend for…all of these unfulfilled promises, I want to see come to pass.” I protested.

Holy Spirit asked, “Are you fighting from a place of victory or fear? Are you fighting for My glory or yours? Are you fighting for My outcome or what you want to see? My daughter, you can pray for the most holy, the most noble of things for the wrong reasons. This is why you get weary in the battle. My yolk is easy, Baby girl.”

Selah (think and pause on this)

Lord. I repent.

“Father, I give you my fears in exchange for your faith. Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief. Help me remember your faithfulness through the years. Help me recall your answered prayers. Teach me to recognize your sovereignty, and declare the victory is won.

“Help me point people to your goodness and your majesty. Let me look to you and be radiant. May my face never be covered with shame. I completely submit to you and if necessary, give me strength of character to risk ridicule, embarrassment, rejection to bring you glory.

“Teach me to be grateful. Open my eyes to see you are working in the humblest of places. Let me recognize when your answered prayer looks differently than I imagined. Let me trust all things work together for my good even when I don’t understand.”

Now, I rise to fight again. With a renewed strength. A renewed determination.

I fight knowing, God is with me and therefore who or what could possibly prevail against me. I engage in this battle from a place of victory.

I fight knowing it’s not my reputation on the line. Like David, I will become undignified to bring Him glory.

I fight removing all expectations of what I think victory will look like. I fight knowing He will do exceedingly, abundantly, more than I can ask, think, or imagine.

I fight!

“Don’t you know that God, the true judge, will grant justice to all his chosen ones who cry out to him night and day? He will pour out his Spirit upon them. He will not delay to answer you and give you what you ask for.”
