Suddenly was not so Sudden

We hear our friends and speakers tell their stories. “Instantly I was healed.” “Suddenly a door opened.” “Immediately, my breakthrough came.”

While those stories are told to impart faith, they can sometimes leave us feeling hopeless, unloved, undeserving when God does not answer us instantly, suddenly, immediately.

I can tell you of a season in my life when suddenly our income increased dramatically. But that story would not be complete without also telling of the preceding barren years, the years crying out to God for provision, the times when it seemed for every one step we took forward, we were knocked back two. But yes, God came suddenly – after five years.

If you investigate most people’s “instantly”, “suddenly”, “immediately”, you will find a wilderness experience preceded. God promised the children of Israel He would give them their promised land, “Little by Little.”

My friend, your suddenly is coming – little by little. Trust God. The children of Israel died short of their promised land because they refused to believe. They looked at their promised land and saw their insufficiency. Caleb and Josh saw God’s All-Sufficiency. Whose report will you believe?

With every prayer,
with every declaration and confession,
with every praise,
with each setback and your resilient get back up,
With every prayer you pray for someone else when you wish someone would pray for you,
With every need you meet for someone else while you are in need,
you are taking your promised land little by little!

My friend, don’t give up short of your breakthrough. God has an Instantly for you. You will experience a suddenly. Your testimony will include an Immediately! Keep contending. Keep fighting. It will happen in your lifetime.

“I will drive them out before you little by little, until you become fruitful and take possession of the land.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭23:30‬ ‭NASB‬‬
