Pray!

Have you ever been so overwhelmed you couldn’t pray?

I get that way sometimes and in the last couple of weeks, I have almost lived there.

I’m bombarded with concerns for my children, death of co-workers, empathizing with those who are hurting around me, planning to teach, missing my students, the uncertainty…ugh! I go to pray and don’t even know where to start.

This summer, the Lord began to speak to me about the importance and the power of praying in the Spirit. When we pray in the Spirit our Spirit connects directly with Spirit of God. We bypass our minds, our own selfishness, our personal desire and pray God’s will. It builds us up.

I began the activity of sitting still, setting a timer, and praying in the spirit for a specified time. I began to see the fruit of this rather quickly. I got more revelation from God. Doors began to open. My kids experienced favor. But when school resumed and life happened, I was not as consistent as I had been in the summer.

This morning I read:
“In the same way the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because he intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans‬ ‭8:26-27‬ ‭CSB‬‬

The last two weeks have brought me back to this sweet discipline of sitting in his presence and just praying in the Spirit. Praying in the Spirit is the answer to feeling overwhelmed in prayer.

I encourage you my friend, turn off the TV, put on some quiet worship music, set a timer, and pray in the Spirit. This act will quiet your spirit, ease your anxiety, and build you up in the Spirit. I encourage you to make it a part of your daily routine. I promise you it will be the best spent time of your day.

“For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with my understanding. I will sing praise with the spirit, and I will also sing praise with my understanding.
I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you;”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭14:14-15, 18‬ ‭CSB‬‬

PS: If you have no idea what I mean by praying in the Spirit, ask the Lord to reveal it to you. You can also message me in Facebook and we can discuss. Blessings, my friends.
