No Fear

My husband, my son, and I were discussing recent events such as the “accidental“ shooting of people and active shooters in schools. I try not to live a life of fear but if I’m honest, the frequency of these events have left me feeling unsafe.

How about you? Are concerns about politics, the economy, gun violence, changes in education policy making you feel anxious? Fearful? Hopeless? Unsafe?

This morning, allow Holy Spirit to come and bring you comfort as He did for me. As I was processing all of the above emotions, I began meditating and personalizing Psalms 112. I remembered who I am and whose I am. Fear is not my inheritance nor is it yours.

If you, too are feeling vulnerable, join me in personalizing Psalm 112.

“Praise the Lord! I am Blessed because I fear and reverence only the Lord.

I delight greatly in His commandments.

My descendants are mighty on the earth. My generation will be blessed.

Wealth and riches are in my house and my righteousness endures forever.

For me and my family, there arises light in the darkness.

I am gracious and full of compassion and righteousness.

I will deal graciously and lend. I will guide my affairs with discretion

I will never be shaken because He remembers me.

I will not be afraid of evil tiding because my heart is steadfast, trusting God.

My heart is established in Him. I will not fear.

I will see my naysayers come to a saving knowledge of Christ.

I will disperse abroad. I will give to the poor.

I will live a life of influence and honor. Amen.
