Lets Get Ready to Rumble – Breastplate of Righteousness

Anchored to our Belt of Truth is another important piece of our spiritual armor, the Breastplate of Righteousness. For the Roman soldier, this piece was designed to protect their hearts. Similarly, we allow our righteousness to protect our hearts.

The bible declares, “we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus” (II Corinthians 5:21). Our righteousness is a gift from God. It is not based on our behavior; it’s not secured by our good works; it does not ebb and flow with our actions. It is anchored in the truth that on the cross, Jesus bore ALL of our sins once and for all, so that those who receive Him as Savior are perpetually right with God.

The enemy’s job is to make you feel guilty and condemned. He wants to remind you of your past failures and convince you that you are not good enough for service. He wants you to focus so much on what you are not doing that you can’t see what Jesus has already done for you.

Condemnation prevents us from entering into God’s presence because we feel unworthy. Condemnation prevents us from praying for others because we feel powerless. Condemnation causes sickness because we believe that we deserve to be sick. Condemnation is deadly.

So this morning, fastened your breastplate of righteousness to your belt of truth and remind yourself:

1. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus
2. I am forgiven.
3. I am holy and blameless in His sight
4. I may make a mistake, but I AM NOT my mistake
5. I can boldly enter His throne room of grace.
6. There is therefore now, no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
7. I am Holy as He is Holy.
8. My sins were atoned for on the cross
9. I am loved by the Father
10. I am perpetually right with God

Secure your righteousness to truth. Allow it to protect your heart from guilt and shame. Don your breastplate, hold your head high and go out knowing you are righteous!

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, (‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭14‬ NIV)
