Know Your Audience

My book, Redefined, is being published October 1.

Yesterday, I was tasked with finding an intriguing catch phrase to put on the back cover. As I was skimming the book to find the right phrase, God began to show me why the book was written.

To invite women who struggle with guilt and shame into freedom.

To heal women of the pain of rejection.

To encourage women there is life in Christ after abortions, after marital affairs, after abuse, after any epic failure.

To remove the striving to be “good” and show the world the completeness of the cross.

To encourage women to believe for a miracle in their situation.

To remind women, no matter their gifts, they are an integral part of God’s plan.

As I was reading Acts this morning, I read how Paul was rejected, criticized, and threaten by the Jewish leaders because of the Gospel message he preached. But he was not swayed to change his message because he knew his audience was the Gentiles and he was confident in what God spoke to him. And think about it, Paul didn’t have the New Testament to refer to. He was writing most of it as he went along.

My book has already received pushback from “the religious “. I have been inaccurately criticized for preaching a Gospel without repentance. But I will not be swayed. My audience needs to read my book.

Jesus said radical things. Paul wrote radicals things. In my book, I quote what they said and wrote without adding the religious spins we like to add for “balance”.

I’m asking you to pray for me in this process. Please pray:

Father I ask that anyone who struggles with guilt, condemnation, and feelings unworthiness, will read this book and find healing. I pray men and women will understand more clearly grace and the atoning work of Jesus. I pray that everyone who reads this book will be healed emotionally, spiritually, and physically. I pray anyone who has aborted a baby, cheated on their spouse, or abused their child will know they are forgiven, loved, and accepted and find the strength to forgive others and themselves. Lord this is your book. Put it in the right hands. Amen.

“Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “ ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”” Acts 13:46-47 NIV
