Keep Contending

Jarius ‘ daughter, the widow of Nain’s son, Lazarus. What do they all have in common? Each was beyond help. They all were dead. Life had left Jarius’ daughter, the widow’s son was in a coffin in a funeral procession and Lazarus stinketh after days of being in the tomb. But each was someone’s daughter, someone’s son, and someone’s brother. They each had someone crying out to God on their behalf.

Each experienced a miracle at the hands of Jesus. Each were so far gone that even their relatives could no longer believe. But Jesus showed up. He gave a daughter back to her father, a son back to his mother and a brother back to his sister.

Are you petitioning God for a son, a daughter, a brother, a husband, a friend? Don’t give up. No matter how dead the situation may seem, no matter how ‘dead’ their spirit may seem, no matter how deep into darkness, addictions, self-destructive behavior they may delve, they are never, ever too far from the love of God. God is wooing and calling them home. At any moment Jesus will step in and give your son, your daughter, your brother, your spouse back to you. Keep contending for your love one!

I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need. “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (‭Luke‬ ‭11‬:‭8-10‬ NIV)
