Inheritance

The daughters of Zelophehad, five women, who recognized the unfairness in the inheritance laws and petitioned for a change (Numbers 27). They were pioneers in the women’s rights movement. It was their story that inspired me to pursue my spiritual inheritance. Their story, became my story, when I refused to believe women could not, should not teach, lead, prophesy. Like these women, I refused to take no for an answer.

Over the last couple of weeks, in several situations, I have been denied, told no. I have faced major disappointment and have had to ask myself what is my inheritance. But this morning, I once again, am inspired by the daughters of Zelophehad. They once again remind me that sometimes you must have tenacity to pursue what is yours, sometimes you must refuse to take no as an answer, sometimes people disappoint but God never does.

We all, men and women, can learn from these tenacious women. Ask for your inheritance and do not take no from people as an answer. Your Heavenly Father, always has the final say so. Remember, what God has for you is for you! You have an inheritance and don’t allow anyone to deny you your inheritance, regardless of your gender, your race, or your past. Ask, knock, seek, stand steadfast, persevere, refuse to relent. Go after what God has promised you tenaciously.

Notice, these daughters did not just get their inheritance, they changed the law so that all women in their position would get their inheritance. When you open the door, you open the door for all those behind you.

Let’s go change the world! Let’s open doors for all.

““The daughters of Zelophehad speak what is right; you shall surely give them a possession of inheritance among their father’s brothers, and cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them.”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭27:7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
